The oldest girl, and the first to
emigrate to America. She was gone from the Forth by the time my
father was born. She married a man in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, named
Otto Buchholz. They had three children...
Kathleen
Kathleen died as an infant. There
is uncertainty about her name. Some say it was Rose, not Kathleen.
All the other children of JimmyJack and Ann lived to adulthood,
and most into their old age.

Jack was the first son. As a young
man he was in the Irish Guards of the British Army, and served
in the trenches in France in WW I. He was gassed during the war,
and it was my father's opinion that the lung disease that killed
him in 1939...
This photo shows Sarah. She married
John Duffy, and lived her life in Donegal, raising a large family
of eight. At first, John and Sarah lived in Ramelton, then in
Letterkenny. They moved to what was then the New Town of Letterkenny
across the Swilly River from the old town...

years further along.. On arrival in the states she did not settle
down immediately, as did her brother Jimmy, but she traveled about.
She visited her sister, Mary, in Wisconsin. She worked for awhile
in Panama...

the sons, he was the one that loved to farm and was good at it.
As a young fellow he won a contest cutting over 5 acres of corn
(oats in American) in one day with just a scythe. During the time
of WW I, he had worked in the forests of Scotland...

Dan was born in 1902. He came to
the United States with his sister, Grace. They were sponsored
by their brother, Jimmy. Dan would marry Madeline Hardy and have
three daughters....

Joe was born on Christmas Eve, 1905.
All his brothers and sisters were born at home, as was he. It
says on his birth certificate, that his mother registered his
birth on January 7, 1906, at the town office in Dunfanaghy...

Bridget was the last daughter to
leave the farm. She was the woman of the house at Forth after
her mother died. In the late 1920's he met Joe Clarke, a Dubliner,
married and moved to Galtymore Road in Drimnagh, Dublin. She had

a family there. His children were Jimmy, Jack and AnnMarie. His

Ann was born in 1910. She was the baby of the family, and her
nickname among her brother's and sister's was "Baaby".
She would be the best educated of the family - the older ones,
some grown and gone by the time she was born, made it possible
for her parents to allow her to continue on at school longer than
the others...
