Bridget remained at home the longest
of any of the daughters of the family. Her mother died in 1925.
Her sister, Mary, was already away to America; Sarah was married
to John Duffy and away to Ramelton; Grace would soon depart for
the states. Annie emigrated in 1929. Bridget married Joe Clarke
of Dublin, who she met when he was doing plumbing work at Ballyconnell
House in the late 1920s. He returned to Falcarragh to court her,
and they married around 1930. She went off then to Dublin and
raised her family. For many years, they lived at 11 Galtymore
Road, Drimnagh, Dublin. She died, suddenly, still a young woman
in 1960
This picture shows her returning
for a visit with her children. From left, Jimmy Jack Ferry, Uncle
Joe Clarke (just coming out of doorway), then Ann (I call her
Nancy) Duffy, my Aunt Sarah's daughter. Bridget is standing above
her son Seamus, who is crowding out his sister, Patsy, in the
baby carriage. The picture is at the front of the farmhouse, taken
sometime before 1935.
