Antiquity of social traits characteristically human

Photo of fossilized footprints of A. Afarensis found at Laetoli by Mary Leakey and Tim White..

Impression of footprints found in outcropping of volcanic rock dated to +3million years ago. Footprints show two-legged creature, striding along, toes pointed forward, foot arched. Imprints indicate creatures' footstrike was on outside of heel, weight came forward over an arch, and pushoff was from great toe.

No knuckle-walking grasping-toed, flat-footed waddler made these prints. These little 60 pound apes, were walking upright across a muddy field 3.2 mya.
